This site is a journal of the events that attract our attention and participation, recorded in photo-essay and cartoon. It includes but is not limited to union activity in our workplaces, political events in our hometown of Sacramento, California, and major regional progressive events.

A Union Member’s Cartoon: Just because I'm no longer a shop steward , don’t think I’m not paying attention to what happens in our union and in my work site. However, since the disappointment of SEIU's UHW trusteeship in January and the brief flurry of hope (dashed) when we thought our open contract would allow us to vote for NUHW, it's been a time of watch and wait. It's been a period of lying low, not paying dues in the usual way, not participating in SEIU events - oh, wait, there weren't any! Well, now it's time to look at life under trusteeship via cartoon:

"A Shop Steward's Cartoon" is one person's account of what it's like to be an ancient crone participating in the Union organizing process at her workplace. Starting as a history, it stops frequently to comment on the personal and philosophical events that accompany any major progressive social enterprise. It will appear in installments and there's no telling how long it will be.

If you want a more straight forward history of Local 250 (United Healthcare Workers-West) you can read it on their website. ---E.Dillinger
