Many
people brought their children on this march through downtown. If the
kids get sick, their options are the county clinics (overburdened
and a target of budget cuts) or a hospital Emergency room. For some
of these parents, the choice will be medical care or food. |

Walking
through the Downtown Plaza with Local 1877, one begins to see the
stores as Large Buildings to be Cleaned, and it puts a different slant
on things. The contrast between these low-wage workers asking for
health insurance for their kids and the noon-time shoppers in the
mall was quite striking, also. |
