Local
1877 President Mike Garcia speaking on the West Capitol steps. "Ya
Basta!" (Enough!). "The basic issue is family medical care,"
he said. "If we keep the pressure on the building owners, we
will win!" |

"You
don't make progress until you go to the streets and demand it! Janitors
have had success in gaining family healthcare in LA, San Diego,
and Orange County, and they can have success here in Sacramento!"
-- Senator Joseph Dunn, 22nd Senate District (LA).
State legislators joined Local 1877 on the Capitol steps to lend
their support for janitors' family healthcare benefits. |

Senator
Gloria Romero (D-LA county, 24th district) joined the group of S.California
legislators speaking in support of healthcare benefits for janitors.
Senator Romero chairs the Senate Health and Human Services Subcommittee
on Emergency Medical Services and knows what happens when people don't
have health insurance-- they go to the ER, which is not an efficient
place to provide non-emergency health services! |
