Sacramento Central Labor Council's seventh annual "Salute to Labor" awards dinner celebrating excellence and leadership in the fight for social and economic justice took place on August 4, 2005 at the Radisson Hotel. The evening's theme "Contract with Working Families" was strongly supported in introductory remarks by California State Treasurer Phil Angelides and Keynote speaker Senator Barbara.

"Each of us needs to be a labor ambassador. We need to cross new borders and take the message of unionism to working families in every corner of the world!"--Bill Camp, Executive Secretary, Sacramento Labor Council, AFL-CIO, presenting the "Union Ambassador" award to Jim Gordon, Chair, Labor Caucus, California Democratic Party, and President, Consumer Federation of California.

An outdoor reception preceded the program, giving participants an opportunity to mingle and sample a variety of tasty hors d'oeuvres.
