The
signing of the contract at sometime after 2 a.m. on October 18th,
2002. Mary and Dominique (LVN's from MGH and Methodist) shown here
signing after a long night of "winning some and giving up some
for the good of all." |

More
signatories to the contract. Some of what the tech unit got: Kaiser
B2 wages upon contract ratification, free dependant vision, dental
and health care (January 2003), increase in stand-by pay to $7.50
(July 2003), an agreement to bargain disputed job matches, and the
opportunity to be on the Patient Care Committee, enabling them to
participate in other workplace-related decisions. |

There
were more people than spaces to sign on this historic document. |

The next step is an election to ratify the contract. When that's
done, tech shop stewards step forward, get trained and the job of
enforcing the contract begins. As we found in the Service unit,
every element in the contract that we agree upon here at the bargaining
table may later be challenged out on the floor by management. The
contract is only as good as the people who insist on enforcing it.
So, congratulations to the Technical Unit, and be vigilant!
